Lilly Ledbetter was the plaintiff in the historic discrimination case that inspired the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act. For 10 years, Lilly Ledbetter fought to close the gap between women's and men's wages, sparring with the Supreme Court and lobbying Capitol Hill in a historic discrimination case against Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. In 2009, she became the namesake of President Obama's first official piece of legislation with the passage of the Ledbetter Act.

Mosaic of Fire:
Recovering the Lives and Work of 20th Century American Women Writers
Wednesday, March 13
7:00 p.m.
Park Library, Baber Room
Caroline Maun, associate professor of English from Wayne State University, will explore the friendship and literary network she identified in her recent book Mosiaic of Fire: The Work of Lola Ridge, Evelyn Scott, Charlotte Wilder, and Kay Boyle. The mentoring, mutual support, sharing of encouragement, contacts, and ideas among these writers is evident in the richness of their literary projects and in their contemporary success. Several of these writers suffered an unkind fate in literary history and are quite obscure now; there are several reasons for this that are illustrative of the role of author participation in the role of reception and reputation.
