Elizabeth Bennion
Curriculum Vitae

Elizabeth A. Bennion is Coordinator of American Studies, Director of the American Democracy Project, and Associate Professor of Political Science at Indiana University South Bend. She is an active member in the American Political Science Association’s Political Science Education Division, serving as program chair for the 2012 annual meeting. Bennion is the co-editor of the American Political Science Association’s forthcoming book, From Service Learning to Civic and Political Engagement, as well as numerous professional newsletter columns, journal articles, and book chapters. Her recent publications focus on the assessment of civic education and engagement efforts, including the use of randomized field experiments to increase voter registration and turnout. Her recent publications are based on large-scale, multi-campus field experiments conducted on American Association of State Colleges and Universities and Association of American Colleges and Universities campuses. J. Cherie Strachan
Curriculum Vitae

J. Cherie Strachan is Director of the Women and Gender Studies Program, Co-Director of the Citizen Engagement and Public Service Division, and Professor of Political Science at Central Michigan University.   She is an active member in the American Political Science Association’s Political Science Education Division, serving as program chair for the 2011 annual meeting.  Strachan is the author of High-Tech Grassroots: the Professionalization of Local Elections, as well as numerous articles and book chapters.  Her recent publications focus on the role of civility in a democratic society, as well as college-level civic education interventions intended to enhance students’ civic skills and identities.  Her applied research, which focuses on facilitating student-led deliberative discussions sessions and on enhancing campus civil society, has resulted in an affiliation with the Kettering Foundation.  She can be reached at strac1jc@cmich.edu.
