Java Virtual Machine (JVM)

Having multiple versions of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) may cause problems connecting to Wimba.
Windows XP/2000Users First, check that the correct JVM application is in use:
- Click Start, Control Panel
- Open Internet Options
- Click on the Advanced Tab
- Search the list for Java (Sun) or Microsoft VM
- Only the Java (Sun) section should contain a checkmark, if Microsoft VM is checked, remove checkmarks.
- Re-run the Wizard to check that it is working properly.
Next, check whether more than one JVM is installed
- Click Start, Control Panel
- Open Add/Remove Programs
- Check the list for " Java 2 Runtime" and/or J2SERuntime Environment (J2SE is short for Java 2 Standard Edition)
- If there is more than one listing for Java 2 Runtime and J2SE, remove all other instances of Java 2 Runtime and J2SE except the latest version.
- Re-run the Wizard to check that it is working properly

- Click Network and Internet
- Click Internet Options
- Click on the Advanced Tab
- Search the list for Java (Sun) or Microsoft VM
- Only the Java (Sun) section should contain a checkmark, if Microsoft VM is checked, remove checkmarks.
- Re-run the Wizard to check that it is working properly.
Next, check whether more than one JVM is installed

- Click Programs
- Click Programs and Features
- Check the list for " Java 2 Runtime" and/or J2SERuntime Environment (J2SE is short for Java 2 Standard Edition)
- If there is more than one listing for Java 2 Runtime and J2SE, uninstall all other instances of Java 2 Runtime and J2SE except the latest version.
- Re-run the Wizard to check that it is working properly.
