Coal plant mercury emissions target of CMU invention

Central Michigan University faculty member Dillip Mohanty has invented a method to capture mercury from coal-fired power plants and convert it to a non water-soluble material that can be safely disposed of in landfills.


 

Michigan legislators speak to the importance of student research

Michigan lawmakers hosted 24 Central Michigan University students at the state Capitol who presented their academic research on subjects ranging from mobile data mining prospects to sensor engineering on Tuesday, April 24. Lawmakers say student research and more state residents with college degrees will help to rebuild the state’s economy.
