If you're like most students, scholarships will provide an important part of your financial aid package.
As a graduate student, you'll also have opportunities to apply for financial assistance through graduate assistantships and fellowships offered within the CMU Department of Chemistry as well as the College of Graduate Studies.
Many of the CMU Department of Chemistry scholarships are renewable, but require submission of a new application each year.
Application. Your completed application must be submitted in hard copy to the Department of Chemistry office (Dow Science Complex 268) by 4:00 PM on March 5, 2012. Late applications will not be accepted.
Selection process. The selection of a student to be awarded a scholarship will be made by a committee composed of the chairperson of the Department of Chemistry and such other persons as the chair may designate. The decision will be made on the basis of:
- A personal statement written by the applicant
- Grades in university/college courses, especially chemistry. Please attach a copy of your CMU transcripts to your application; an unofficial copy will do. Also, if applicable, transcripts showing grades for transfer credits must be included.
- Other factors
Notification. Scholarship recipients will be notified via e-mail before the awards are presented in the fall of 2012.
