What is a Global ID login and why do I need one?

A Global ID and password are required to access many things. On the Alumni Association Web site, you can login to get details on member benefits, register for events, and purchase or renew Gold Membership. Your Global ID is assigned as your unique identifier for the entire time you are associated with CMU. It will not be changed or altered for any reason.

The Global ID is used to authenticate with many different systems including email and Centralink​.​ The Global ID is typically the first five letters of your last name, a number, your first and then your middle initial. If you have a CMU Lifetime email or cmich.edu email account, then you already have a Global ID. Just use the first part of you email address before the '@' sign as your username. Your password is the same as your email account.
