Grandparents University is a summer camp that brings grandparents and their grandkids together for three days of fun on the campus of CMU. This experience includes hands-on educational sessions conducted by faculty members along with other fun activities for grandparents and children ages 8 to 12.
Eat and sleep in the residence halls, attend special classes together throughout the campus, and experience many highlights of the CMU campus during Grandparents U.
Customize your experience by giving preference to classes that fit your interests and those of the kids that you love.
Class Selections
Class selection preference will be based upon the date that registration is received at the Carlin Alumni House. Hurry-the sooner you register the higher preference you get! Once registered, you will receive an e-mail by May 1st with a list of all classes that are being offered. At that time you will rank your top choices, and be placed in those according to availability.

102: Bug Eyed: Things in the Scanning Electron Microscope
103: Backstage at Bush Theater
104: Summer Fun: Music Theatre and You
105: Behind the Scenes of CMU Public Television
106: A guided tour of “A Natural History of Michigan”
107: A 1905 school day at the Bohannon School and the Mt. Pleasant Indian Boarding School
108: Geography is where it’s at!
109: Using Hollywood Film to Teach Science
110: Space: The Final Frontier
More sessions will be added.
We will follow up in the late spring with a full list of the class sessions. At that time you will make selections.
A choice of special evening events will be offered.
Events may include: Swimming and bowling at the Student Activity Center, movies, games, and rock climbing at the indoor rock wall in Finch.
