CMU Memories: History in the Making
Stop by the Charles V. Park Library on your way to Alumni Village, the pre-game tailgate party, and leave your mark on CMU history. Alumni are invited to bring a photo, letter, or note regarding their time as a student at CMU, and add it to displays created to represent student life from various decades. Feel free to just stop by and leave your autograph and class year. Tour the Park Library where you can see the Libraries’ fabulous exhibits, and check out the great view of Mt. Pleasant from the fourth floor! This event is sponsored by the Clarke Historical Library, which holds the CMU Archives, among its special collections focusing on Michigan History and Children’s Literature.
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. CMU Homecoming Childern's Activities
Alumni Village next to Rose Ponds
Celebrate Central Michigan University's 120th anniversary with children's activities hosted by the Museum of Cultural and Natural History during the CMU Homecoming Reception. Children can try on vintage football and cheerleader uniforms, learn a CMU cheer, sing the CMU fight song, and practice marching.
We encourage alumni to come and share their homecoming stories, cheers, or fight song with our future Chippewas. The first 200 children visiting us at the alumni tent will receive a complementary 120th CMU anniversary cup cake.
Cheer on the Chippewas as CMU takes on BSU at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Order tickets at 1-888-FIREUP-2 or online.
Miles for Medals
This premier annual event is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Michigan, in partnership with CMU for over 35 years. Participants are encouraged to raise funds to support the more than 18,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities in the State of Michigan. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. at Finch Fieldhouse for the 8 a.m. start. Choose a 5K run/walk or a one-mile fun run/walk, register online.
The annual Medallion Hunt is one of the newest traditions here at CMU but it has quickly become one of the most popular. Each year thousands of students take part in the campus wide hunt for the Homecoming Medallion. During homecoming week, students are given various clues to the location of the medallion. The hunt takes place on CMU's main campus and truly an event that all CMU students should experience!! Follow the 2011 Medallion on Facebook and Twitter (@CMUMedallion) Medallion Website
Cardboard Boat Race
Held in the afternoon of Homecoming, this event draws quite a crowd to Rose Ponds (near the CMU Events Center). For two weeks, students in the Engineering programs work on building cardboard boats. They sail the boats across the ponds, and the first team to the other side wins.
Marron Cup and Golden Goblet
Each year during Homecoming Week, student organizations compete in various competitions throughout week to try and win the Homecoming Maroon Cup or Golden Goblet. All registered student organizations are eligible to compete in Homecoming activities. Find more about the Maroon Cup and Golden Goblet at the Student Life Website
