Michael Wegner, '66 MA '69a lifelong public servant, is honored tonight with the Community Recognition Alumni Award.
Michael was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus 8808 and the Holy Spirit Credit Union. For more than 27 years he has been a member of the Saginaw Shrine Club, the Bay City Consistory, the Shields Eagles, and the Polish Falcons of Saginaw.
Other groups that have benefitted from Michael’s involvement include the Saginaw-Bay Substance Abuse Board, the Saginaw County Commissioners, the Saginaw Area Growth Alliance, the Saginaw Intermediate School District, the Saginaw County Solid Waste Committee, the East Central Michigan Planning Region, and the Region VII Area Agency on Aging.
Michael has been elected 11 times to public office in the Saginaw area, including positions in the Swan Valley Schools and Thomas Township.
In his daily life, Michael advocates for CMU. He is a member of the Tri-cities Alumni Chapter, and he organized a “big brother” program at CMU.
