CMU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, one of
six regional accrediting associations in the United States.
The Higher Learning Commission is recognized by the
Secretary of Education and the Committee on Recognition of
Postsecondary Accreditation (CORPA), now continued under the
Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
The Professional Education Unit at Central
Michigan University is accredited by the National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), 2010 Massachusetts
Ave., NW, Suite 500, Washington DC 20036; phone 202-466-7496.
This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs
and advanced educator preparation programs. NCATE is
recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council
for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for
the preparation of teachers and other professional school
personnel.
Central Michigan University is accredited
by the AACSB, and the International Association for Management
Education. The American Psychological Association, the
National Association of School Psychologists, the American
Speech, Language, and Hearing Association, the American
Chemical Society, the National Association of Schools of
Music, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and
Mass Communication, the Commission on Accreditation in
Physical Therapy Education, the National Parks and Recreation
Association, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health
Education Programs, the Accreditation Review Committee -
Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), the Council on Academic
Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, and
the National Association for the Education of Young Children
have also issued their accreditation to appropriate CMU
programs.
