MAR 300 Marine Science I: Oceanography 5(Spec)
An introduction to biological, chemical, geological and physical sciences. Prerequisites: College algebra; 8 hours of college chemistry; 8 hours of college biology.

MAR 301 Marine Science II: Marine Biology 5(Spec)
An introduction to marine biology with emphasis on local fauna and flora. Prerequisites: General zoology; general botany.

MAR 503 Marine Invertebrate Zoology 6(Spec)
Structure, classification, phylogenetic relationships, larval development and physiology of marine invertebrates. Prerequisites: BIO 101, 203, 208, 218.

MAR 505 Marine Ecology 5(Spec)
The relationship of marine organisms to their environment. Prerequisites: General Zoology; General Botany; MAR 503.

MAR 507 Principles of Marine Aquaculture 6(Spec)
Principles and techniques applied to the culture of commercially important marine organisms. Prerequisites: Sixteen semester hours of biology.

MAR 508 Marine Ichthyology 6(Spec)
Evolutionary relationships, morphology, physiology and zoogeography of marine fishes. Prerequisites: Sixteen semester hours of biology; Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy.

MAR 509 Marine Microbiology 5(Spec)
The role of microorganisms in the ecology of the oceans and estuaries. Prerequisites: Microbiology.

MAR 510 Marine Fisheries Management 4(Spec)
An overview of the principal groups of marine algae. Prerequisites: Ten semester hours of biology; General Botany.

MAR 520 Marine Phycology 4(Spec)
A survey of the principle groups of marine algae. Prerequisites: Ten semester hours of biology or General Botany.

MAR 521 Coastal Vegetation 3(Spec)
General and specific aspects of coastal vegetation with emphasis on local examples. Prerequisites: BIO 101, 203.

MAR 522 Salt Marsh Plant Ecology 4(Spec)
Botanical aspects of local marshes including ecology plant identification, composition and structure. Prerequisites: General Botany

MAR 530 Comparative Histology of Marine Organisms 6(Spec)
Histology of marine organisms, including tissue processing techniques. Prerequisites: Permission of instructor.

MAR 543 Environmental Estuarine Chemistry 4(3-1)
A study of the sources, reactions, transport, effects and fates of environmental chemical species occurring in aquatic environments including the chemistry of toxic substances. Prerequisites: 16 hours of chemistry; 3 - 6 hours of general biology and geology; or permission of the instructor.

MAR 557 Marine Science for Teachers 3(3-0)
Introduction to the study of marine science for teachers at all grade levels. Prerequisites: Basic science courses required for B.S. degree.

MAR 558 Marine Science for Elementary Teachers 3(3-0)
A course designed to prepare elementary teachers to conduct classes using marine related materials.

MAR 590 Special Problems in Marine Science 1-6 
(as determined by problem director)
Prerequisites: Permission of Instructor.
