Admissions
Admission Criteria
To be considered for admission into CMU's AuD Program, students must have completed or be in the final stages of completing an undergraduate degree. Students who did not receive an undergraduate degree in communication disorders, please reference the paragraph entitled "Major Requirements for Communication Disorders."
Applicants will need a course in American Sign Language as a prerequisite and must earn a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of a 3.0 and a minimum 3.0 grade point average in their major coursework, with no individual course grade below a 2.0. All applicants are required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
The following information highlights the average of academic and practical qualifications for enrolled students of the graduating class of 2011. This information will allow you to assess your chances of admission and help in your planning process. It is important to note, however, that applicants are evaluated based on their own credentials and merit.
| Cumulative GPA: | 3.73 |
| Major GPA: | 3.85 |
| GRE: Verbal + Quantitative: | 1063 |
| GRE: Analytical Writing | 4.4 |
Major Requirements for Communication Disorders
Students who did not complete their undergraduate degree in communication disorders will need to complete at least 28 credit hours in CDO courses (major requirements listing) in consultation with a faculty advisor (equivalent coursework may be taken at other universities and may not necessarily total 28 credit hours). Completion of this coursework does not guarantee admission in the AuD Program, as it is a competitive admission program.
