Admission Criteria
To be considered for admission into CMU's SLP Program, students must have completed or be in the final stages of completing an undergraduate degree in communication disorders. Students who did not receive an undergraduate degree in communication disorders, please reference the paragraph entitled "Major Requirements for Communication Disorders."
Students must earn a minium cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum 3.0 grade point average in their major coursework, with no individual course grade below a 2.0. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required.
The following information highlights the average of academic qualifications for enrolled students of the graduating class of 2011. This information will allow you to assess your chances of admission and help in your planning process. It is important to note, however, that applicants are evaluated based on their own credentials and merit.

Post-BA Requirements for Students Pursuing Speech-Language Pathology
Students who did not complete their undergraduate degree in communication disorders must complete at least 29 credit hours in CDO courses (Post-BA Requirements) in consultation with a faculty advisor (equivalent coursework may be taken at other universities and may not necessarily total 29 credit hours). Completion of this coursework does not guarantee admission into the SLP Program, as it is a competitive admission program. Technical Standards
All candidates interviewing for admission and students admitted into the SLP Program are expected to demonstrate the attributes and meet the expectations listed in the Technical Standards.
