Position Description/Responsibilities:

Staff Physical Therapist - Evaluates the patient's physical and functional status and selects the appropriate treatment program to achieve short and long range goals that are measurable and realistic. They perform periodic re-evaluation and adapt programs as needed.  The therapist will use modalities, exercise and education to treat patients.  The staff in this department is friendly, outgoing, team oriented, enthusiastic and experienced.  The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is team oriented, a good communicator, friendly, outgoing, willing to learn and has outpatient experience with strong manual skills. Candidate must also communicate with physicians, patients, caregivers, insurance companies and other staff.

 

Work Schedule:

Full time position, 80 hours bi-weekly.  Predominantly days but have weekend rotation and call.

Call Schedule: One PT on call every night until 9:00 p.m. on a rotating basis.  Call is divided for 1 person on Mon - Thurs and a different person on Fri - Sun (person who is scheduled to work the weekend)

 

Department Size:

When fully staffed - 18 PT's and 9 PTA's

 

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy is required.  Preferred education is a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy or Health Sciences.  Must have a valid South Carolina PT licensure.

 

Case Load:

Inpatient - Orthopedic including total joint replacements, multi-trauma patients, neurological patients including dedicated stroke unit, general med/surg population.

Outpatient - large number of back and neck patients, chronic pain patients, neurological, shoulder patients, geriatric patients with general debilitation. Have pediatrics as a specialty area.  Age ranges from birth to geriatrics.

 

Patient Ratios:

Inpatient - Varies depending on patients but roughly 12 patients per day.

Outpatient - Varies depending on patients but roughly 12 patients per day.
