About the Program

The Women's Studies program focuses on the intersections of gender, ethnicity, class, and nationality to understand systems of power and oppression in everyday life, as well as the ongoing struggle for justice throughout the world. Students work with faculty members to connect feminist theories with advocacy and social justice and to critique the cultural construction of gender and power in the global community. Program curriculum and activities also examine the extent to which women have located sources of strength as active agents of change to improve the daily lives of others in our global community. This interdisciplinary field of study offers opportunities inside and outside the classroom that will help you develop the advocacy, research, critical thinking, and written and oral communication skills to prepare for your chosen career.
