General Bartell Visits CMU

Major General Arthur M. Bartell visited Central Michigan University on 24 September 2009 to award Mary Brewer the Leadership Legacy Award for her twenty years of service. Upon Award with Bartellhis arrival, the General was given a tour of the Military Science Dept. led by cadets in CMU's ROTC program. Throughout his tour, cadets were able to speak candidly and ask questions to the General gaining insight from his personal experiences. Major General Bartell also spoke to cadets and highlighted the importance of safety in both safe and unsafe enviroments.

After the conclusion of his tour, Major General Bartell presented Mary P. Brewer the Leadership Legacy Award from U.S. Army Accessions Comman. Mary continues to serve as the Military Science Dept.'s human resource manager. Prior to her career at Central Michigan University she spent 5 years working for the Active Army. Mary recieved her bachelors in 2005 in Entrepreneurship.

During the ceremony and visit many prominant figures from Central Michigan University were present. Attending were Dr. Pamela Gates, Mr. David A Burdette, Interim President Ms. Kathleen Wilbur, Dr. Bruce Roscoe, and Mr. John Fisher. During the reception all family and friends were allowed to speak with the General and congratulate Mary for her lifetime accomplishment, making for a truly red letter day.
