Fall FTX 2009

CMU ROTC Cadets participated in the annual FTX for the 2009 Fall Semester.  The training took place from 25 SEP to 27 SEP as Cadets spent the weekend at Camp Grayling  and participated in a variety of challenging activities that helped develop their technical proficiency whiMarching to Formationle in a learning environment.

The event began with Cadets being airlifted to Camp Grayling in Chinook helicopters landing near campus. Upon their arrival, cadets participated in a variety of the drills and classes including MOUT familiarization, grenade throwing, and bayonet training. These classes were designed to provide cadets with the confidence and knowledge they needed to perform the tasks presented to them later in the weekend.

The following day cadets were brought to various urban training areas and conducted Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT). Cadets were tasked with effectively clearing rooms, search prisoners, and working as a unit in a wide array of Chinookescalating scenarios. After completion, Cadets then learned the proper commands of using Zodiac boats and stormed onto the beaches where they learned how to properly setup and execute ambushes.

Day three was an accumulation of their training, as Cadets were inserted into a small training village and were forced to clear and secure a hostile area. During this exercise Cadets were able to utilize paint balls to add to the realism and fear of being shot.Zodiac As cadets and enemy were hit, they practiced first aid utilizing equipment such as pressure dressings and tourniquets.

FTX occurs every semester and provides Cadets a great opportunity for hands on experience. If you are interested in please contact us at cmu-rotc@cmich.edu. Welcome to Warrior Country.
