Jenell Barnard arrived at Central Michigan University in the fall of 2000 as a recipient of the Leader Advancement Scholarship.  During the next four years at CMU, Jenell found herself extremely involved in a number of activities and programs including Hall Council, Phi Eta Sigma, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, GearUp, LeaderShape, Alpha, and Alternative Breaks. 

In the fall of 2004 Jenell began her Master’s Degree in the Speech Communication and Dramatic Arts department of CMU.  There she obtained an assistantship to teach introductory communication courses.  During her second year, Jenell also assumed the role of the Assistant Basic Course Director, in which she trained first year graduate assistants in proper instruction strategies.  Currently, Jenell is working on the completion of her thesis to fulfill the requirements of her M.A. 

As of July, 2006, Jenell Barnard was appointed Central Michigan University’s first Coordinator of Leadership Development for K-12 students.
