Photojournalism grads leave everlasting memories at CMU
Graduating photojournalism students will leave CMU snapshots of their memorable moments.
The 16 seniors in the CMU photojournalism program have captured hundreds of memories on campus and in the community during their time at CMU. Those moments will now be a part of a yearlong showcase here on campus, according to a news release.
The 2008 Senior Photojournalism Exhibition is on display on the fourth floor of Moore Hall, which is home to the journalism department. The photos will be displayed until May 2009, when the next groups of photojournalism seniors graduate.

400 compete in promoting Michigan History Day at CMU
More than 400 students from around the state flocked to CMU to promote the study of history using various creative outlets earlier this spring.
“Conflict and Compromise in History” highlighted Michigan History Day. Every year students from fourth through 12th grade dedicate time during the school year to work on ways to present historical exhibits. The exhibits can be presented in dramatic performances, documentaries, Web sites, research papers and exhibits, according to a news release.
The competition is sponsored by the Historical Society of Michigan. Winners of the competition will receive awards and have the opportunity to go to the national competition held at the University of Maryland. This is the second year CMU has hosted the competition.
CMU Pride Week rallies support, educates
CMU celebrated Pride Week by hosting weeklong events to inform and educate the public on the local gay, lesbian, transgendered, and bisexual communities.
The goal of the week, sponsored by the Office of Gay and Lesbian Programs, was to educate others and for individuals to express who they are.
“The purpose of Pride Week is to provide CMU students, faculty and staff, as well as individuals from the local community, an opportunity to take part in events that give them a chance to celebrate who they are,” said Ana Guerriero, director of the Office of Gay and Lesbian Programs, in a news release.
