What is priority registration and how does it work?
CMU students
register at a time that correlates to the number of credit hours they have
earned. Hence, seniors register first, then juniors, then sophomores, and then
freshmen. Honors students who have priority registration, however, register
first, even before the seniors. This perk is given to assist Honors students in
meeting their Honors requirements. All Honors freshmen are given priority
registration their first year in the program. So in the fall of their freshman
year they get priority registration when registering for spring classes, and in
the spring of their freshman year they get priority registration when
registering for fall of their second year. After that first year, however,
Honors student must “earn” their priority registration if they wish to receive
it again.
