What criteria must I meet in order to apply to the Honors Program? 

If you are applying as a high school senior you must meet one of the following criteria: 

• 3.75 cumulative high school grade point average OR
• 3.6 cumulative high school grade point average and ACT of 25 or higher

If you fall short of the above requirements you may request special consideration by submitting the Honors Program Application for Admission form, your writing sample, and a statement describing the special circumstances and/or supporting evidence of academic promise which you believe qualifies you for admission to the Honors Program.

If you are applying as a transfer student or a current CMU student you must meet the following criteria: 

• 3.5 cumulative college grade point average

How do I apply?

• Fill out the Honors Program application
• Attach your admissions essay (topic and instructions are printed on the application
• Mail it to the Honors office

Where can I get an Honors Application?

• You can print an application from here and mail it to:  CMU Honors Program, 137 Powers Hall, Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI  48859 OR
• Call the Honors Program Office at (989) 774-3902 to request a paper copy mailed to you.

When is the deadline to apply?

• CMU Honors Program applications must be postmarked by January 31, 2009

How soon will I hear my admission decision?

• The Honors Program will review all applications after January 31, 2009.  Successful applicants will be notified of their selection by February 15, 2009.
