Open Enrollment

What is open enrollment?

Benefits Open Enrollment is the annual period of time that benefits-eligible employees have an opportunity to evaluate their health care needs for the upcoming plan year.  Additionally, employees may add or remove eligible dependents from coverage as appropriate and verify their beneficiaries are up to date.  Dependents added to coverage will require proof of dependent eligibility. Employees with dependents requiring eligibility verification will be contacted by BMI Audit Services.

    • Health Savings Account (HSA)

For all other benefits (dental, vision, life, disability), your current elections will automatically be re-enrolled for 2024-25 in the same plan and coverage level.  Covered dependents will continue with coverage, if still eligible.  No coverage elections will remain no coverage.

  • CMU's Life and Disability vendor will change to Unum effective July 1, 2024.  With this change, there is a special enrollment opportunity during this open enrollment period only!  No evidence of insurability (EOI) will be required for:
    • Short Term Disability elections or increases (for eligible employees)
    • Life Insurance elections up to the guaranteed issue amounts

Please note that CMU Choices will still populate the standard warning saying EOI is required, however unless exceeding the guaranteed issue amount you will not be contacted by Unum to complete EOI.

  • The maximum contribution amount for Health Care FSA will increase to $3,200, and the rollover limit form the 2024-25 plan year to 2025-26 will increase to $640.
  • CVS Caremark prescription coverage will now cover both seasonal and non-seasonal vaccines when received at a participating pharmacy.
