About the Department
Central Michigan University employs a police force encompassing 21 officers, including a chief, captain, detective sergeant and three sergeants as well as a support staff of dispatchers, a service officer and a parking bureau.
Vehicle Registration
Central Michigan University Parking Services division of the Police Department distributes parking permits and maintains all related records. CMU Parking Services also offers online vehicle registration for your convenience.
Safe Rides
The Safe Rides program, brought to you by the CMU Police Department was designed to enhance campus safety. To use the service simply call 774-HELP (4357) between 8:00 P.M. and 1:00 A.M.
Community Policing Officers
The CMU Police Department is fortunate to have two community policing officers assigned to the Residence Halls. The role of a community policing officer is to educate and promote awareness on any campus, state or federal law or issue.
Crime Prevention Tips
- Do not lend or duplicate your keys
- Keep your car locked at all times
- If you have a bicycle, secure it at all times
- Walk in well lit areas at night
