Media relations
CMU’s media relations staff is dedicated to expanding awareness about the university to members of the media, locally and around the world.
Each media relations staff member is assigned specific beats made up of colleges, departments and units within the university, so that he or she stays knowledgeable about ongoing news and activities and acts as the liaison between their clients and the media.
Our services include:
- Writing and distributing news releases about events, research, honors and awards
- Training and preparing CMU faculty and staff for media interaction
- Connecting the media to CMU faculty members who are experts in their fields
- Working with faculty and staff to draft op-ed articles for placement in newspapers and magazines
- Highlighting the work and activities of CMU students through placement of news in hometown newspapers and other media
- Creating informative segments for the CMU public television network program “Inside Central”
