Information for student organizations

CMU is proud to share its name with the hundreds of student organizations that are providing excellent co-curricular activities and opportunities to our students.

Please be responsible about using CMU's name and trademarks. All artwork including these marks must be approved by CMU's publications office (or submit for approval online) before it is printed on T-shirts and other items. Any items for sale - even if you do not make a profit from the sale - are subject to royalty fees.

Here are some guidelines for designing artwork:

Do

  • Get approval from CMU for any artwork for merchandise that includes Central Michigan University's trademarks - including products that use the words "Central", "Central Michigan" and the letters "CMU"
  • Keep the university logo and other trademarks proportional and displayed as they appear on our download page
  • Include the TM or "®" symbol in the lower right hand corner of all trademarks

Don't

  • Stretch or alter the logo, except through proportional enlargement or reduction
  • Display the logo or trademarks in a way that could constitute an endorsement, approval, or underwriting of any organization, product, activity, service, or contract by Central Michigan University
  • Crowd the university logo with other design elements over, under or too close to the trademark
  • Make the company name or mark larger than the university trademark
  • Use slogans, words or images that are degrading, demeaning, disparaging or distasteful
