Dan is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He was born and raised in Monticello, Iowa, and can wax poetic about "amber waves of grain" if you let him. He graduated from Wartburg College and is pretty crazy about Bruce Springsteen - he even has a room in his house dedicated to The Boss. Just don't go serenading him with, "Born in the U.S.A." We've tried that, and he's not a fan of our air guitar.

Dan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease of the central nervous system, on Valentine's Day 2000. Some of us have had the honor of supporting Dan, and his wife, Jennifer, on MS fundraising walks and races. Dan's also an avid runner and a baseball fan.

At CMU, Dan writes and edits hundreds of CMU publications every year, from magazines to print ads to program guides.

"I work with a great team of professionals. We all have individual strengths and perspectives, and it's always rewarding when we collaborate to produce publications that support the goals of our clients and the university," he says. "I'm fortunate that I also can call my colleagues my friends."

Aww - see what we mean about being a nice guy?

Quote: "In my humble opinion, 'Darkness on the Edge of Town' from the live 1975-85 boxed set is the best Springsteen song."
