Construction update for April 29th through May 12th, 2008


The contractor for the Education and Human Services building poured the sidewalk on the East side of Sweeney Hall. That walk way is open again. Construction continues on site.

During the electrical shutdown on May 10th, the switchgear at the powerhouse will be repaired.

At Brooks, the main fire alarm panel will be repaired on May 14th.

Phase one of the carpeting project at the Alumni house is complete. Carpeting at the west side will commence this week.

There will be NO ACCESS to the IAC weight room as the flooring is being moisture sealed during this two week time frame. Warning signs MUST be observed.

The new IAC Track offices are expected to be complete the end of May.

At Rose, the fall arrest/riggings system will start on May 12th, and last about 2 weeks.

On May 5th, a new display case at Wightman hall will be installed.

Sidewalk replacement north of Warriner hall has been completed.

All RHD apartments at Saxe, Woldt, Herrig and Emmons Halls will be carpeted the week of May 5th.

Masonry work will continue around the perimeter of Warriner Hall, with intermittent closures of sidewalks and doors as work progresses. This work is expected to be primarily done by May 12th.

On May 12th, the roof and gutter replacement at Warriner Hall is expected to commence. Please be observant of materials and barriers around the building during that time.

Renovations of Moore Hall RM 129 will commence on May 12th. This project should last about 1 ½ weeks.

Construction update for April 14th through April 25th, 2008


Excavation work continues outside the fence in the eastern grass area located in front of Sweeney Hall for the new EHS building. Pedestrian traffic will be routed onto Ojibway for about 20’ until the road that goes into lot #45. A temporary walkway is being used to direct people around the work site.

Work continues on the site of the new IAC offices by the track bay.

Masonry work continues around the perimeter of Warriner Hall, with intermittent closures of sidewalks and doors as work progresses.

Carpet repair at Finch 115A and 101A, and HPB 2nd Floor Atrium has been completed.

Carpet Repair in Special Olympics Room 110 will be done by Friday, April 18.

Carpet installation in IAC 103A-C office will be done by Wednesday, April 16th.

In the IAC weight room, they are currently doing testing - rubber floor installation to commence April 23rd. 

At the Alumni House – 1st and 2nd floor carpet installation will begin in phases starting Monday April 21 and will commence through May.

In IAC 209 & 211, carpet will be installed. Chairs will be delivered and installed in these rooms on April 17th.

Construction update for March 24 through April 11, 2008

(Please note this information is for three weeks, instead of the standard two weeks.)

Contractors will be working outside the fence in the eastern grass area located in front of Sweeney Hall. This work will involve excavation of two chilled water lines starting south of Ojibway and running north to the new EHS building. Pedestrian traffic will be routed onto Ojibway for about 20' until the road that goes into lot #45. The contractor will create a temporary walkway using barricades to direct people around the work site. The contractor will also be barricading and fencing off the area for excavation of the north/eastern front yard of Sweeney Hall.

Work continues on the site of the new IAC offices by the track bay. Work hours on this project will be from 6 am to 2 pm, to accommodate athletic practices.

At IAC rooms 209/211, carpet replacement will commence on Thursday, April 10th and be completed Wednesday, April 16th. Chair Installation will commence and end on Thursday, April 17th.

Masonry work will continue around the perimeter of Warriner Hall, with intermittent closures of sidewalks and doors as work progresses.

Carpet/flooring work:

  • IAC offices rooms 103 A,B,C. carpet installation April 14-16
  • IAC weight room installation of rubber flooring April 23 - May 14
  • Alumni House will be re-carpeted April 21- May 12
  • Health professions there will be carpet replacement in 2nd floor atrium
  • Foust 108E carpet repair
  • Special Olympics carpet repair in room 110

Construction update for March 3rd through March 17th, 2008


Construction continues at the site of the future Education and Human Services Building.

Both the University Center Room 142 N remodel and the University Center 108B, International Programs remodel will be complete by March 7, 2008.

Work in the University center food court will be complete by March 7, 2008.

On March 10, 2008, demolition will commence for the new IAC offices by the track bay. Work hours on this project will be from 6 am to 2 pm, to accommodate athletic practices.

Spring Break construction:

  • Anspach Room 161 carpet and abatement
  • Carey basement coffee shop and computer room closed for carpet installation
  • Finch 101A carpet repairs
  • Rose Ryan 0118 B & C carpet installation
  • Possible flooring work in Kelly Shorts locker room

Construction update for February 18th through March 3rd, 2008


Construction continues at the site of the future Education and Human Services Building.

The masonry work at Warriner Hall exterior is finished until March, due to winter weather.

Around North Campus, soil borings will be taken starting 2/25 and there will be surveying that will be completed the end of this week. Note that this is just activity in the area and will not cause any restrictions.

University Center Room 142 N remodel will be completed prior to spring break. University Center 108B, International Programs, will be off limits starting 2/25 for remodel.

There is construction around the Northeast end of the Market at East Complex. The west side entrance is available.

Spring Break construction:

Construction update for February 5th through February 18th, 2008


Construction continues at the site of the future Education and Human Services Building.

The masonry work at Warriner Hall exterior is finished until March, due to winter weather.

Brooks 168 & 169 are ready for occupancy, with final punchlist items being completed now. All work is expected to be complete by Friday, February 8, 2008.

Work at Rowe 201 in the animal lab is completed now, with the exception of last minute punch list items. All work is expected to be complete by Friday, February 8, 2008.

There is construction around the Northeast end of the Market at East Complex. The west side entrance is available.

Carpet installation in Grawn 180 in the hallway in front of the LaBelle Entrepreneurial Center is complete.

Construction update for January 7th, through January 21st, 2008


Construction continues at the site of the future Education and Human Services building.

Sanitary work at the Woldt Restaurant and dish room has been completed.

The masonry work at Warriner Hall is finished until March, due to winter.

All painting and carpet work at West Hall is completed.

Electrical work at the Park Library will conclude the week of January 7, 2008.

Flooring in Woldt Emmons will be completed by the end of the day on Monday January 7, 2008.

Air compressor testing will take place at the Powerhouse beginning Monday, January 7, 2008 and will finish on Friday, January 11, 2008.

Work continues at Brooks 168/169 and Rowe 201 in the animal lab.

Carpet installation at the University Center on the main corridor office 101A Visitor Information Area starting at 8:30am on Monday, January 14th and will be finished by the end of the day on Tuesday, January 15th.

The walkway will be obstructed on the west side of the Woldt Market as work is being done in the attic space.

Construction update for December 13th 2007 through January 2nd 2008


At Warriner Hall, the masonry work on the building exterior is currently on hold as the brick is being shipped. Although work has stopped, please be aware of equipment and materials that may be in that area, and avoid them for your safety.

All corridors and offices in West Hall on the 1st and 2nd floors are being painted. This will continue for the next 3 weeks. The back stairwell is being carpeted and new tile is being in stalled in the south entry.

More lighting has been added to the new Education and Human Services Building construction site perimeter. Facilities Management hopes that this will make traveling in the area of the Washington Court Apartments easier for students.

Work at the SAC to be finished the week of Dec. 17th as well as the campus building asbestos work.

Mid State Plumbing and Heating will work on the Woldt Residential Restaurant sanitary work the week of Dec. 17th.

A & G Flooring will be sealing floor penetrations at Woldt Residential Restaurant the week of Dec. 17th.

Serenus Johnson will be relocating the cage at Rose 143 the week of Dec. 17th.

Park Library Campus Wireless project will be completed by Dec. 21st.

Lighting work will take place at Powers 102 the week of Dec. 17th. Electrical work to be done at the Park Library Help Desk the week of Dec. 17th as well.

Merrill Dining loading dock work will take place week of Dec. 17th, this will affect loading dock access but will still be operational.

Insulation work at CEL will take place over the holiday break

Work continues at Brooks 168/169 and Rowe 201 in the animal lab.

Flooring work will commence at the following locations over the holiday break:

Construction update for November 26th, through December 11th, 2007


Excavation on the walkway on the southeast side of Merrill, between the building and Parking Lot 44, is finishing up.  All barricades and equipment will be removed by Wednesday, November 28th.

At Warriner Hall, the masonry work on the building exterior is currently on hold as the brick is being shipped.  Although work has stopped, please be aware of equipment and materials that may be in that area, and avoid them for your safety.

Construction update for October 30th, 2007 through November 13th, 2007

 

At Warriner Hall, masonry work has begun on the building exterior. This will not affect the critical path, but the sidewalks directly around the building may be disrupted. Please be aware of equipment and materials that may be in that area, and avoid them for your safety.

Carpeting has been completed in the hallway of Rose between the wrestling and gymnastics rooms.

At West Hall all corridors and offices on the 1st and 2nd floors will be painted. This will continue for the next 6 weeks.

Roofwork at the Public Broadcasting building B will be completed during these 2 weeks.

The railroad crossing project SW of parking lot 43 is slated to begin. Please be aware of construction crew and machinery in that area.

Construction update for October 2, 2007 through October 16th , 2007

Temporary sidewalks have been installed East and West of Washington Court Apartments next to buildings P and J. The Blue Light and Emergency phone east of the apartments has been moved closer to the temporary walk near building J. The construction fence line for the new Education and Human Services building site has been extended, to be closer to both Ojibway and Ottawa Streets. The pre-existing sidewalk will be gone South of Ottawa, North of Ojibway. This work affects the critical pathway.

The concrete and foundation are complete on the Student Memorial. The project is west of Park Library, near the pond. Work will be done around the memorial during the week of October 15th, 2007. This work does NOT affect the critical pathway, but may temporarily disrupt sidewalk traffic.

.The fixtures have been delivered for the exterior lighting projects at Saxe and Herrig Halls, and Parking Lots 52 & 53. These fixtures are scheduled to be installed during the week of October 15th.

The track bay resurfacing at the Indoor Athletic Complex continues. This area is off limits to staff and students during this process.

Repairs of the carpet in Warriner Hall are taking place throughout the building.

Carpet is being repaired at the RHD apt at Robinson.

The roof at Public Broadcasting Building 27B is scheduled to commence in two weeks.

Three sections of roofing at Rose/Ryan continue to be replaced.

The campus railroad crossing project is slated to begin in the next few weeks.

At Rowe, work on the HVAC continues at the museum and animal lab.

Currently, drainage repairs are taking place around the North face of Warriner Hall. Please be aware of the equipment in that area.

Warriner hall will be power washed in the next two weeks to prepare for the exterior restoration of that building. Masonry work will begin by the end of October. This will not affect the critical path, but the sidewalks directly around the building will be disrupted. The work will start with the North Face.

Construction update for August 7 – August 21st, 2007:

Work is being done between Brooks Hall and the Dow Science Building and should be done by August 10, 2007. This work affects the critical path.

Work will start on the south side of Sloan Hall on August 5, 2007 and will finish on August 10, 2007. This work affects the critical path.

Work will begin on August 7th on the east side of WArriner hall and will finish on August 17, 2007. This work affects the critical path.

Temporary walks will be installed on the east side of the Washington Court Apartment Buildings, Building ā€œJā€ the week of July 23, 2007. Bushes that currently affect this temporary walkway will be removed, for better access. Parts of the sidewalk east of the Washington Court Apartments, south of Ojibway will be repoured the week of August 6, 2007. Part of the temporary sidewalk on the west side of Washington Court Apartments will also need to be repoured this week. The construction fence line for the new Education and Human Services building site will be extended, to be closer to both Ojibway and Ottawa Streets. The existing sidewalk will be gone South of Ottawa, North of Ojibway.

At Anspach, the roofing is completed, and all Handicapped Accessible parking spaces have been reopened.

Public Broadcasting building #27, roof replacement is scheduled to begin the week of August 13, 2007.

There is construction in Rose 143 during this time period.

The track bay floor resurface will be complete by the end of September 2007.

Floor resurfacing will take place on campus from August 4-12th in the following locations:
    SAC basket ball courts 5 & 6
    Racquetball courts
    Rose 126
    MAC 1 Court
    Rose Arena Floor

The concrete and foundation are almost complete on the Student Memorial. Granite will be brought and laid in September of 2007. The project is west of Park Library, near the pond.

At the East Complex, the truck dock will be ready for use by August 10, 2007.

Relandscaping west of the East Complex pond is occurring now. Drains are being installed in the courtyard area near Celani and Fabiano. Excavation will begin this week east of the pond.

Reconstruction continues at Woldt in the club room, market and connecting spaces. The two main doors at the East Complex computer lab are now open.

Exterior lighting projects at Saxe and Herrig Halls, as well as parking lots 52 & 53 will be complete August 24, 2007.

At the Engineering and Technology building, lab 151, there will be water and sewer line installation during this two week time frame.

Various remodeling projects are in work at Brooks Hall. Please be aware of the projects as they progress.

Mechanical work continues at Woldt, Emmons, Saxe and Herrig Halls. These halls will not be accessible until August 13, 2007.

Several architectural repair and mechanical projects are occurring in Sweeney Hall. These projects will be in several areas in the building, and will be on all floors. Work is expected to be complete August 15, 2007.

Parking Lot 43 is closed to all pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle traffic until August 3, 2007.

Beginning on August 2, 2007 several parking spaces in Parking Lot 6 will be utilized as a staging area for other parking lot work for a period of 2-3 weeks. Please avoid the equipment and machinery in those spaces.

Work in Parking lot 3 continues this week.

Parking lot 62 next to the SAC will be closed the week of August 6th- 10th as it is being paved and striped. This lot is closed to all pedestrian and bike traffic as well.

Construction will begin on the Robinson Hall tunnel repairs on Monday, August 5th, 2007. This work will close down a portion of Hopkins Ct for the next 3 weeks. Access to West Hall, Calkins Hall and the loading dock area will have to come in off of Preston and through the SEF parking lot.
