Web Style Guide

The CMU Web site is designed to express CMU's supportive environment and active learning culture. These guidelines are provided to ensure consistent navigation and coordinated identity with the university's home page.

Wordmark, Logos, & Image Restrictions

All Web-based usage of University wordmarks, logos, and images must comply with the the CMU Public Relations and Marketing Office Communications Policy. University employees and students are not authorized to modify official CMU marks that are protected by trademark.

If you use the wordmark anywhere on a page other than in the defined banner area, do not separate the CMU initials from the rest of the wordmark. Do not deface, rotate, distort, or alter the wordmark in any way. Do not allow other visual elements to interfere with the wordmark. Athletic Logo

CMU Athletics Logo ExampleThe athletic logo (Flying "C") is for University Athletics use only. Any use of this logo must be approved through the CMU Public Relations and Marketing Office. The bar underneath the C is part of the registered logo.

Photographic images of buildings for Web development can be found at Central Michigan University's MediaBank.

Image Use

  • Do not violate copyright laws.
  • Get permission when photographing people or using their images. (You have permission to use CMU MediaBank images.)
