Gail Torreano
Alumna
Trustee
President, AT&T Michigan
How she gets involved: Aside from her leadership role on the university's Board of Trustees, Gail frequently mentors CMU student leaders through the Leadership Institute.
Best CMU memory: "I had a particular professor who I will remember for as long as I live, Ed Poyner. He recognized at one point that I was struggling, and he sat me down and put together a plan of action to help me succeed. It was that individualized attention he gave me that really made the difference."
Why CMU: "CMU is special for a number of different reasons, but first and foremost is the outstanding faculty and administration. There are faculty members at CMU who take special interest in students that you just wouldn't get at a larger university."
CMU's nationally known Leadership Institute develops more than 4,000 student leaders annually.
