- Graduate student Jane Schild received the 2006 Best Student Presentation Award from the North American Lake Management Society
- Moore Hall Television has won the Michigan Association of Broadcasters College Station of the Year award for the past 7 years
- Journalism program is one of two in Michigan and 111 nationwide to be accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education and Mass Communication
- Only university in Michigan with an undergraduate degree in meteorology
