Admissions Requirements

CMU takes a holistic view of a student's application and carefully reviews each one. The following factors are considered in this process:
- Overall grade point average
- Academic grade point average
- ACT test scores
- Rigor of high school courses
- Extra-curricular and leadership activities
- Work experience
- Volunteer service
In addition, we strongly recommend the following high school background:
- English - 4 years
- Mathematics - 4 years
- Biological and physical sciences - 4 years
- History and social sciences - 4 years
- Foreign language - 2 years
- Computer experience - 1 year
Central's freshman class has an average high school grade point average of 3.33 and an average ACT score of 22. Along with being good students, successful CMU students tend to be well rounded in activities, interests and involvement.
Advanced Placement and CLEP
Students with Advanced Placement courses or other equivalent experiences may be able to test out of some of the university's required courses.
