Job Posting Paragraph

2011 UNIVERSITY RECRUITMENT STATEMENTS

CMU STATEMENT

Standardized statements for CMU job advertisements have been created in order to ensure uniformity and accuracy in describing the university. Departments can choose from the following statements when writing a faculty job advertisement. It is recommended that departments use the long description when writing an advertisement for a chairperson/director position. Departments are encouraged to use the short or medium description for faculty advertisements. When posting an abbreviated advertisement which directs the reader to a website for the complete job posting, a CMU description is not mandatory in the printed advertisement but must be included at the website location.

AAEO STATEMENT

In addition to the CMU statement, all advertisements should include one of the AAEO statements.

The University's official statement, which is required on all advertisements for faculty positions, is:

CMU, an AA/EO institution, strongly and actively strives to increase diversity within its community (see cmich.edu/aaeo).

The following statement is encouraged in large display advertisements (an example would be advertisements in The Chronicle of Higher Education announcing multiple positions):

CMU, an AA/EO institution, strongly and actively strives to increase diversity and provide equal opportunity within its community. CMU does not discriminate in employment against persons based on age, color, disability, gender, gender identity/gender expression, genetic information, familial status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, or weight (see cmich.edu/aaeo).
