Public events for CMU’s Homecoming 2008 will include:

Alumni Takeover of CMU’s WMHW-FM 91.5
Alumni will be responsible for the station’s programming and operations

Lecture by Amy Roloff
Disability Awareness Month  presentation by Homecoming grand marshal

Chippewa Rock Rally
Events will include a pep rally, a mock rock contest, presentation of the football team, introduction of Grand Marshal Roloff and the announcement of the 2008 Homecoming Gold Ambassadors.

Annual Homecoming 5K/“Miles for Medals” fundraising run/walk
Participants can choose a 5K run/walk or a one-mile fun run/walk on scenic campus courses. All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Michigan.
• 7:30 a.m. check-in and 8 a.m. start, Oct. 11
• Finch Fieldhouse

Continental breakfast for alumni and friends
After the breakfast, those attending are invited to stay at Powers Hall and watch the parade as it travels through campus.

Homecoming parade
Parade will be led by Grand Marshal Roloff.
• 11 a.m. Oct. 11
• Originating in Parking Lot 22 and traveling through campus before heading north on Main Street to downtown Mount Pleasant.

Alumni Village
This free celebration will feature hospitality tents hosted by each academic college in preparation for the football game against Temple.
• 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 11
• Adjacent to Rose Ponds

Cardboard boat race
The annual event, which was mentioned in Sports Illustrated on Campus magazine as one of “101 Things to Do Before You Graduate,” will feature teams of students attempting to paddle across the ponds in cardboard boats they have designed and constructed.

CMU football versus Temple
At halftime of the football game, Roloff and the 2008 Homecoming Ambassadors will be introduced.

• Admission is free for current CMU students.
