Honors Community Service
SERVICE IS A CORE VALUE OF THE HONORS PROGRAM
The Honors Program promotes volunteering at the highest level. Serving the community is a core Honors value thus a wide variety of service projects are offered each semester in which students can plan and participate to earn their hours. Honors also partners closely with the CMU Volunteer Center as well as local, state, national and international volunteer agencies to provide a broad plethora of service opportunities,
representing a range of issues such as hunger, homelessness, child abuse, HIV/AIDS, birth defects, malaria prevention, animal shelters, literacy, etc… As part of the Honors Protocol, each Honors student agrees to complete a minimum of 120 hours of community service during their time at Central but most Honors students double or triple this amount of hours. Each year students are recognized at an end of year ceremony for their volunteer efforts.
