Honors Philanthropic Society

The Honors Program Philanthropic Society (HPPS) formed in the fall of 2008. Its mission is to plan and implement large-scale community service projects for the Honors Community at CMU and the surrounding community. If you would like to serve on a project committee, consider attending the fall planning meeting or contact Judy Idema, the HPPS advisor.
Past Successful Events
- Hunger Awareness Strike - Made 100+ lunches for the local soup kitchen
- Soup Bowls for Charity - Sold 400+ ceramic bowls of soup, making $2,500 benefiting Women's Aid Service of Isabella County and Art Reach scholarships for low-income children.
- Made 40 fleece blankets for the residents of the Isabella County Adult Care Facility
- Collected cans of food for the American Red Cross Mobile Food Pantry
- Hosted a Winter Charity Ball, which raised $1155 for Women's Aid Service of Isabella County.
- Purchased and donated 100+ new pajamas and toys for local impoverished children through the Salvation Army.
- Raised $1,100 to purchase shoes for orphan children in Oaxaca, Mexico.
- Painted a four-bedroom suite at the new Detroit Hostel in Detroit, Mich.
