Our prestigious Centralis Scholarships offer you an opportunity to study in a community with bright, motivated students and to enrich our campus community with your talents and intellect.

You may compete for our Centralis Scholarships if you are a high school senior and have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have demonstrated outstanding academic performance.

Centralis Scholar Award - 20 awards

This scholarship covers the full cost of your tuition along with room and board and provides $500 for general expenses. The award pays for up to 36 credit hours per academic year, including summer sessions. The award value for four years is $80,604 or $20,151 per academic year.

Centralis Gold Award - 20 awards

This scholarship covers the full cost of your tuition for up to 36 credit hours per academic year, including summer sessions. The award value for four years is $45,936 or $11,484 per academic year.

Other awards for top competitors

Additional one-time scholarships of $5,000 and $2,500 also are available for top competitors.

Centralis Scholarship Competition

This half-day program is an excellent opportunity for you and your parents to become acquainted with CMU's programs and services.

An hour will be reserved for you to write an essay, which will enable us to review a sample of your writing and get to know you better. The essay topic will be provided at the competition.

The Centralis Scholarship Competition day will include:

Forums providing information about CMU's academic programs
Parent panel presentations on financial aid, career possibilities, residence life, and our Honors Program
Opportunities to explore our scenic campus

Centralis competition and award process

To be considered for a Centralis Scholarship:

Reserve your place at the December 5 Centralis Scholarship competition by calling 888-292-5366.
Apply for admission to Central Michigan University. Be sure to submit your official high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores along with your application.
Attend the Centralis competition.

Note: If you haven't applied for general admissions by December 5, you can bring your completed application and support materials to the competition or complete the application at the competition. All materials must be postmarked by December 8, 2008.

Final scholarship decisions will be made in January following a review of Centralis applications completed by competition finalists. Scholarship recipients will be notified in early February.
