Fees for Services

University Health Services operates on a fee for service basis. Charges are competitive with those in the local community and based on the same strict guidelines and coding systems as other health care organizations.  We currently participate with Blue Cross Blue Shield Traditional, PPO and Blue Preferred Plus, Priority Health, Aetna, Co-Finity, Straight Medicaid and Medicare, Tri-Care Standard, and the CMU Student Health Insurance.  We provide courtesy billing to all insurances but it is highly advisable that students contact their insurance company prior to scheduling an appointment to confirm coverage and benefits for services at the clinic.  Insurance plans vary and may be subject to co-pays, deductibles, out of network charges, and pre-authorization requirements.  Please be aware that we are not classified as an Urgent Care and cannot bill as an Urgent Care.  When speaking with your insurance company, be sure to let them know that we are an on campus medical clinic for students and we bill as a physician's office.

Office visit charges vary depending on whether the patient is new or established with our practice, the complexity of the problem, and the decision making involved. Pharmacy and laboratory fees are in addition to the office visit fee. Questions about fees for specific services can be answered by calling our Business Office at (989) 774-3059.
