Snyder appoints CMU faculty member to Michigan Community Service Commission
Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed Central Michigan University's Vice President of External Relations Kathy Wilbur to the 25-member Michigan Community Service Commission. The commission works to create a national service plan and foster volunteerism throughout communities in Michigan. Wilbur will serve as a representative for experts in public safety services and environmental and human services to communities until her term expiration in October 2019.
Broadcast Education Association creates scholarship in honor of CMU faculty member
The Broadcast Education Association has created a scholarship honoring CMU faculty member Peter Orlik. In addition to chairing the university's School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts, Orlik has served as chair of the BEA Scholarship Committee for years. The scholarship was created in response to the increased need for permanently endowed scholarships and recognizes Orlik for his contributions to the BEA.
CMU Campus Dining staff member receives prestigious managing award
CMU alumna and faculty member Jen Souva recently received the Aramark Ring of Stars Award, which honors Aramark managers around the world. Souva has been an employee of Aramark at CMU for more than 17 years and currently manages The Market convenience store. She was selected for this award based on her outstanding job performance and community involvement. Outside of work Souva volunteers for local humane societies and animal welfare groups, including the Isabella County Animal Shelter, an affiliate of the Humane Animal Treatment Society.
