For over 30 years, Dr. Hunt has been in health care management in hospital and hospital-based physician practice settings with organizations ranging from 30 to 500 beds. Beginning as a radiographer and nuclear medicine technologist with direct patient care responsibilities, Dr. Hunt quickly moved to the department director role. After serving in that capacity for more than 20 years and completing a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Seton Hall University, he advanced to a position of Vice President of Clinical Services, with executive responsibilities for radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, cardiopulmonary, cardiovascular, social services and rehabilitation services. In 2016 Dr. Hunt accepted a position with a major Midwestern healthcare system as President and CEO for an affiliated rural hospital in Illinois.
Dr. Hunt began teaching for undergraduate and graduate programs, primarily in Healthcare Administration, in 2009 on a part-time basis. Through this role, he realized that he could contribute to the building of a strong healthcare management future in the United States and beyond. Subsequently, Dr. Hunt retired from his CEO position to pursue a full-time vocation in academia. This has led Dr. Hunt to the role of associate faculty at Central Michigan University.
