Religion Scholarships and Awards
Kendall W. Folkert Memorial Endowment
The Kendall W. Folkert Memorial Endowment funds a scholarship awarded to students pursuing South or East Asia studies.
- Seniors: must be admitted to a graduate program in South or East Asia studies.
- Undergraduates: must be pursuing work in South or East Asia studies through a study abroad program. First-year students are not eligible to apply.
- Preference is given to those engaged in the study of culture and to those with better academic records.
Application Process: Applicants should email par@cmich.edu a letter explaining what they will do, for how long, when, how it relates to past study and/or experience, and how it relates to future plans/goals.

Hough Award
The Hough Award is given to the student who writes the best capstone paper as a Religion major.
Pfeiffer Prize for Writing
The Pfeiffer Prize for writing is conferred on the student who has completed the best piece of written work in a religion class at CMU during the previous calendar year.
- Undergraduate students.
- Must have completed a religion class at CMU during the previous calendar year.
