Study abroad

Enhance your studies in world languages and cultures through a study abroad opportunity in countries such as Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Mexico or Spain. You can choose from study abroad opportunities that last a month, semester, summer or entire year.

Student organizations

Get involved. Build your network. Earn a higher GPA. Make the connection between the classroom and real life by joining a World Languages and Cultures student organization.

    Le Cercle français is open to students of all levels. Members sponsor cultural activities about music, games, French and francophone traditions and experiences abroad.

    Come, practice your German speaking skills! Learn more about German culture. Improve your German language skills with games and fun interactive activities. This is also a chance to get to know German students from other classes, students from Germany on CMU's campus, and find out about German everyday culture. For more information contact Daniela Richter.

    Join us in a number of extracurricular activities offered on a regular basis for all German students. Among these are visits to the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills, attending the German Christmas Songfest in Frankenmuth, and participating in the German Career Day organized on the campus of Aquinas College. In addition, the German section collaborates with other departments to bring to campus speakers presenting on matters of German language, culture and literature. Organizer: Dr. Daniela Richter.

    Pi Delta Phi is the National French Honor Society. The local chapter, Zeta Omega, initiates new members every fall semester.​ There is a $35 lifetime membership fee. Members of Pi Delta Phi are registered with the National French Honor Society office and are eligible for a $500 summer study abroad scholarship. Self-nominations are announced early in the fall semester in all 300-level or higher French classes. Request an application form from faculty advisorAmy J. Ransom.

    Sigma Delta Pi, the Spanish Honorary Society, plans many activities for students of all levels in Spanish. Activities include conversational practice, cultural excursions, international dinners, tutorial services, Spanish songs/skits/readings and fundraisers. For more information, contact faculty advisor Roberto Mendoza.

    We welcome you to join this academic and cultural club for people of all levels of learning Spanish from beginner to fluent. This is a fun club that combines education of the language, the culture and meeting new people. For more information, contact our faculty advisor Alejandra Rengifo.
