Freshmen Next Steps After Deposit Spring Semester
Once you've submitted your enrollment deposit and set up your CMU account, you're ready to complete your enrollment checklist items like signing up for orientation and applying for housing.
Haven't done that yet? Take a minute to do so. You'll need to have these steps completed before you're ready to move on.
Schedule your orientation session: August
Beginning in August, you'll be ready to sign up for your orientation. Spots are first come, first served so it’s best to do this as soon as possible. You’ll learn about life at CMU and most importantly, register for classes. We'll send you some additional info to your cmich email account when it's time for you to pick your date.
Apply for housing: October
Now you're ready to start your housing application! After your enrollment deposit is processed, we'll email you Residential Community Living Guide at your cmich.edu email address. This will help you guide you through applying for housing, including selecting a meal plan, choosing your residence hall preferences and finding a roommate.
Once you set up your CMU account, you'll use that username and password to log into your housing application. All first-and second-year students are required to live on campus, unless you qualify for an exemption.

Receive financial aid package: October
You'll receive your personalized financial aid offer by mail to your home and emailed to your cmich.edu account beginning in October. Your financial aid offer will highlight any scholarships you've earned so far, grants and/or work-study you've received, and loans we suggest for you.
You must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with CMU to receive your award offer.
Receive housing assignment: December
Housing payment due: February
Your housing charges will be due at the beginning of February (the same day as tuition). Your billing statement, released at the beginning of January, will detail all of your payment information.
