At CMU, our excitement and commitment to welcoming you to campus this fall are unwavering. These are unsettling times for all of us, and things seem to change daily. If recent events have affected you and your family financially, your CMU Chippewa family would like to ease your burden of your next steps.
Committing to CMU and reserving your spot in the incoming class is easier than ever. Your $175 enrollment reservation deposit and the first housing payment of $800 can now be postponed to your fall bill.
Deferring the enrollment reservation deposit
- Set up your new CMU account using your unique "New CMU Account PIN" located on your letter of admission. If you need assistance, please contact email@example.com.
- Using the Global ID and password created in step one, log-in to the New Student Orientation Portal. On the payment screen, select "Defer my $175 enrollment reservation deposit. I understand this charge will be placed on my CMU account in the fall.”
By deferring this payment, you can proceed just as if you had paid the deposit. You will be recorded as a confirmed incoming student and begin receiving information about housing and orientation.
Deferring the housing deposit
The first housing payment of $800 is due May 1, showing your commitment to living on-campus. To defer this payment until fall:
- Begin step one of the housing application by following the instructions you will receive in an email from Residence Life after submitting/deferring your enrollment reservation deposit.
- Email a deferral request to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your full name and student ID number.
Whether you pay now or defer the first housing payment, you will be able to participate in room selection on May 19 as long as you have completed step one of the housing application.
