JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • You will produce daily newscast stories and features for broadcast within CMU Public Radio’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered.   
  • You are expected to pitch strong, local stories on a regular basis. You will also receive assignments/leads from the news director.
  • You will prepare questions, record interviews in person or via phone, write and edit copy and audio and prepare stories for web posting.
  • You will have access to studios and field equipment as needed.
  • This is a paid position which can also be used for internship credits if desired.
HOURS:
  • We require a minimum of 12 hours a week, preferably two consecutive days.  
  • You may be scheduled up to 20 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40-hours a week during the summer.
  • Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
  • Staffing levels over holiday periods will be determined.
SKILLS
  • Exceptional writing skills (required).
  • Experience with audio editing, specifically using Adobe Audition (preferred).
  • A basic understanding of who we are (common sense)
