ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS –

Description:  Supervise the promotions department staff, work with and present to advertising clients and community partners opportunities for promotional activities.  Also, negotiate plans by which the station(s) may participate in and benefit from events such as fairs, concerts, parades, and other local festivities.

Key Activities:

  • Oversee all station promotions, including station remotes, appearances, van stops, contests, social media & events in collaboration with programming and sales.
  • Secure merchandise, tickets, and trips for on-air giveaways.
  • Develop creative and compelling on-air, on-line and on-site contests.
  • Work with sales staff to create, brainstorm, develop and execute on-air, on-line and/or on-site promotions for clients.
  • Work with outside vendors to execute marketing programs.
  • Create and implement revenue-generating programs and contests.
  • Assist in managing web sites and social media branding/activity; develop and maintain community and client partnerships.
  • Write, edit and produce promotional material.
  • Oversee and expand Listener Database Program in collaboration with program directors.
  • Create station marketing plan and manage associated budget in collaboration with program directors and general manager.
  • Schedule and oversee station street team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients and community service organizations.
  • Assign tasks to the members of the promotions department and delegate responsibilities; work flexible hours/schedule.
  • Coordinate hiring process of promotions staff.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, music business, or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in promotions, public relations, or special events, and some radio/media promotion experience preferred.

Full Description

The multi-media journalist is responsible for researching, writing, capturing visual content and editing stories for multiple platforms.

Key activities

  • Receives assignment or evaluates news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.
  • Gathers and verifies factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.
  • Organizes material, determines slant or emphasis, and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
  • Shoots video and still photos to illustrate stories.
  • Edits, or assists in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms.
  • Appears on television program when conducting taped interview or narration
  • Gives live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit.
  • Work cooperatively with photographer assigned to story, if one is assigned.
  • Assist news producer in preparing newscast.
  • Assist online staff in preparing for multi media stories.
  • Report, write, capture quality visual content, edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadline, such as Internet and digital channels.

Education & Experience/Certifications

  • Bachelors degree in broadcast journalism or related degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience

Skills & Abilities

  • Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems.
  • Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment.
  • Edit video on Final Cut Pro editing systems, or similar equipment.
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
  • Proficient at posting content to various websites.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.

Full-time

Description:  Conduct an on-air shift.  Speak or read from scripted materials, such as news reports or commercial message, on the radio.  May announce artists or title of performance and identify station and make public appearances.

Key activities 

  • Perform a live on-air shift following station format guidelines and requirements, including operating all audio consoles, broadcast automation equipment, EAS equipment, and computers as necessary
  • Voice track segments as required
  • Daily contributions to station social media efforts including, but not limited to: Facebook posts, daily blog, Twitter feeds, posting to station web site, podcasts and producing video segments for the web site.
  • Follow all FCC rules, EAS requirements, state and federal laws, and company policies.
  • Follow and maintain radio station commercial, program, and transmitter logs as required
  • Effectively work in a team environment to develop and maintain positive rapport with other staff members, management, clients, and listeners
  • Identify trends and recommend improvements based on market knowledge and trends.
  • Provide quality service and assistance to all customers, potential customers, employees and vendors on an ongoing basis.
