  • WTMJ Radio is seeking a news anchor/reporter to join its award-winning news team.
  • The news anchor/reporter would play a large role on Wisconsin's Morning News.
  • The position also includes interaction with show hosts, live interviews, outside appearances, traffic reporting, online story creation and a visible role representing the station.
  • Responsible for producing several newscasts during morning drive time and into the midday, writing multiple scripts for on-air and online, pulling interview bytes for use in newscasts and identifying/assigning stories.
  • Becoming part of the Milwaukee community, creating relationships with city leaders, law enforcement, state lawmakers, community advocates, business leaders, etc., are all critical aspects of the position.
  • Must be comfortable in front of a camera (for digital platforms) and be able to perform multiple tasks while bringing a credible voice to Wisconsin's Radio Station, WTMJ.
  • Must have strong written and editorial judgement, excellent on-air presentation and reportorial skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills required, solid understanding of producing local enterprise content,
  • proficient use of the digital platform, high work ethics and standards; ability to meet deadlines and detail orientation; knowledge of Newsroom computers required along with familiarity of areas across southeast Wisconsin.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record and proof of insurability.
  • College degree preferred. Minimum 2 to 4 years of prior broadcast experience required.

Position requires

  • The ideal candidate must possess exceptional organizational and writing skills.  
    Ability to lead and make split second decisions based upon knowledge of directives. 
  • Must be self-motivated, ability to multitask, and excel under intense deadlines pressure in a rapidly changing environment.  
  • High level of communication skills both written and verbal.  
  • Applicants must have experience with ENPS and non-linear editing.  
    Ability to write, re-write, edit and post to website as well as other platforms.    
  • This is a 24/7 operation and may require working overnights and/or weekends, as well as holidays.
