Ron Marmarelli has taught writing, reporting, and editing courses in the journalism department at Central Michigan University since August 1978, in two periods of service (August 1978-December 1995; August 2000-present). He also taught Advanced Composition in the English department for several years. Previously, he worked as a daily newspaper reporter in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and taught journalism at Temple University, Philadelphia. He also has been a daily newspaper copy editor, a freelance writer for various reference book projects, and a contributor to scholarly journals in journalism history. Since 2000, he also has been working freelance as an editor and writing consultant. He has continued research and writing on subjects in journalism history and biography. He has a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and a master’s degree from Temple University and has done doctoral work in American studies at Michigan State University.
