Since the founding of the Department of Journalism in 1959, its alumni and faculty have made significant professional contributions in news media, public relations, advertising and photography.


The CMU Journalism Hall of Fame recognizes those who have made a difference in the world, have remained true to the ethics and standards modeled at CMU and have shown outstanding dedication to the communities they serve.


To nominate a CMU graduate for Young Journalist of the Year, submit the following information.


  • Complete the nomination form

  • Nomination commentary, no more more than three pages, addressing criteria numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4 as identified in the nomination form

  • Two to five letters of support
