Audition Information

​​Audition requirements and procedures vary from production to production and are open to all CMU students regardless of major, minor or year in school.  Below are the details regarding upcoming audition opportunities for mainstage University Theatre productions.  Be sure to check the bulletin boards outside Moore 133 and in the green room for additional audition opportunities.

A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams

  • Audition details (dates/times/locations): Tuesday, January 20th (6:00-9:00 p.m.) and Wednesday, January 21st (6:00 – 9:00 p.m.) in Kiva, Moore Hall

CMU Summer Theatre will be holding auditions for a company of actors/technicians to present a summer season of three plays:

  • Don't Dress for Dinner
    by Marc Camoletti/Adapted by Robin Hawdon, directed by Elaine Daugherty

  • One Slight Hitch
    by Lewis Black, directed by Steve Berglund

  • Jerry Finnegan's Sister
    by Jack Neary, directed by Tim Connors

Auditions will be held in TOTS on Friday, February 20th (beginning at 2:00 pm); callbacks will be held on Saturday, February 21st in Bush Theatre  (1:00 pm-4:00 pm).  Those auditioning should present one prepared comic monologue NO LONGER THAN ONE MINUTE in length. 

Contact Steve Berglund (Moore 134) to sign up for an audition time.  In addition to the monologue, a tech i​nterview is REQUIRED. The tech interview will be scheduled at the same time that your audition is scheduled.  A completed ST 2015 company application must be brought to both the audition and tech interview.

Company members will be involved in all aspects of production:  acting; costume construction and maintenance; scenery construction, maintenance and changeovers; properties; publicity and house management; box office; sound; lighting; load-in/load-out; etc.

 All company members will be paid ($1,687.00 scholarship for the season) and will be eligible for free tuition for specified TAI courses.  It is not possible for company members to have outside employment and/or take summer session classes.

The Summer Theatre season begins on Monday, May 18th and ends at the end of the day on Monday, ​July 20th. Shows will be performed in Bush Theatre June 24th through June 28th.  One week of the season will be spent on tour at the Beaver Island Community Theatre and one week in Whitehall, MI at the Howmet Playhouse.  Housing, transportation, meals and incidentals while in Mt. Pleasant will be the responsibility of the individual company member.  Housing, ferry transportation and meals will be provided during the tour at Beaver Island; transportation, meals and incidentals while on tour to Whitehall will be the responsibility of the individual company member.  In addition, one of the productions will be revived for the opening of the 2015-2016 University Theatre season.
