The minor in dance provides performance experiences and a well-rounded curriculum for students who wish to combine the study of dance with a degree in another discipline. After you earn a minor in dance at CMU, you may pursue a career on the professional dance circuit.
You already know that dance requires coordination, agility, grace and creativity. CMU's program will help you further develop your skills and increase your knowledge of the methods and theories of traditional and contemporary dance.
University Theatre Dance Company performs in the fall and spring semesters and once annually as part of the University Theatre series. Performances are held on campus in the Grace L. Ryan Studio, Plachta Auditorium and Bush Theatre.
The respected dance company features 30 to 40 talented university students in professionally choreographed jazz, ballet, contemporary and ethnic dances. University Theatre Dance Company membership is awarded through audition at the beginning of the fall semester. The company holds memberships and competes in the American College Dance Festival Association and the National Dance Association.
