CMU School of Music ensembles perform regularly both on and off campus, they also tour nationally and internationally. Music students perform with Michigan based orchestras, and have appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Detroit/Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Notre Dame Jazz Festival. International tours have included Ireland, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, China, and South America.

The CMU Orchestra is a very active student based orchestral ensemble. Fellowship awards are available for eligible students.

The Marching Band brings Chippewa Spirit to every game to make each season exciting and vibrant.
Students taking part in opera have the opportunity to work with the School of Theatre and present an Opera Gala during fall semester and a full-length opera during spring semester.
The CMU Percussion Ensemble performs annually at various Jazz Festivals and got nationally broadcasted on CBS.
