For Immediate Release

The School of Music at Central Michigan University is pleased to announce that the tenth annual Morey Senior Music Outreach Concert— in honor of the community's senior citizens and their families —will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. in Staples Family Concert Hall.

In one of the most eagerly anticipated concerts of the year, senior citizens and their loved ones from around Central Michigan gather at the School of Music for this free one-hour musicale performed by CMU's talented music students. Among them are chamber musicians, vocal soloists, instrumental soloists, ensembles and more, performing compositions from a wide range of genres (e.g., jazz, classical, opera). Refreshments and entertainment follow the concert in the beautiful School of Music Lobby.

This is a wonderful occasion for seniors to join with their family members for an afternoon of good music, food, and fellowship as made possible with the generous support of the Morey Foundation.

Morey Senior Music Outreach History

The Morey Foundation has supported the School of Music's outreach efforts since 2005. That year, Lon Morey, CEO of Morbark Inc. and president of the Morey Foundation, came away highly impressed with the professionalism of the music program after attending CMU's Opus program that spring.

His vision was to further connect the university through the School of Music to the community's seniors. With his generous donation, Morey along with the School of Music began a series of high-quality concerts for area seniors and their families to enjoy.
